This firkin is definitely a bottom-of-the-stack piece. It has got great color as well.

Measuring 12 inches in diameter by 12 inches tall, it is in excellent condition.  It is of good and solid construction, and its staves are all nice and tight.  The best part, of course, is the color:  deep blue over an original bittersweet.  The blue is old and right, as is the bittersweet underneath.  The thing I dearly love about the piece is that the bittersweet peaks through the blue in spots from wear attendant with its age and use.

I purchased this piece at a farm auction in Lehigh County years ago and it has been at the bottom of one of my stacks.  I’m selling off that particular stack, in bits and pieces so as not to go totally cold turkey.  This piece is, however, one of the best firkins I have had the privilege to own with respect to color and size.

I don’t think I need to say another thing about this piece. The color speaks for itself.
