What can be said about this poor creature that one look doesn’t already tell you? What we do know is that he was much-loved by his owner and carefully and meticulously mended over the years.

I believe he started life as one of those flannel-covered cloth dogs from Germany that were popular in the lat 19th C. In fact, there is but of wisp of felt nap left on the inside curl of his tail.

Measuring 5 ¼ inches long by 4 inches tall and 1 ½ inches broad at the chest, he is still very firmly straw-filled. As you can see by the photos, there is wear and there are mends attendant with age and very much use yet he stands strong and tall.

This is the kind of critter who needs a tender loving doll’s lap to sit on. Why don’t you take him home?
