Offered for your consideration is a favorite cloth girl out of my collection.  Over the years I have pared down my collection to those that have “spoken” to my heart the most.  She is such a treasure.

Measuring 20 ½ inches tall with a 5 ½ inch shoulder width, her body is fashioned out of natural homespun and stuffed with cotton batting and rags.  She has faint yet very naïve and expressive penciled facial features.  But what I believe is her BEST feature is the wonderful snood that covers the back of her head (see photos).  In my time of collecting and selling these wonderful cloth ladies I have had only 3 others that have had this type of head covering.  Another favorite detail of mine is her individually sewn fingers.  She has lost parts of two of them on her left hand, but they are wonderfully detailed just the same.

Her condition is excellent with some signs of wear attendant with age and use.  She still retains her original hand sewn dress and undergarments, as well as her hand made shoes.  There is also evidence that there might very well be another face under the present one although that is tough to tell for sure.

She was de-accessioned from a museum as evidenced by the cloth inventory tag sewn on to the interior hem of her dress (see photo) . I don’t know what museum but can say that she was found in New England a number of years ago and came to me via a private collection.

As far as cloth dolls go – she is a find!  Charming and naïve, she has graced my collection of “specials” for many years.  I am now ready to pass her on to be loved and cherished by someone else.
